Stable Supply of Biomass Fuel

Hanwa is working in the business of biomass fuels, sources of
renewable energy.
Most of the biomass fuels we handle are woody—palm kernel
shells (PKS) and wood pellets—, and we are number one in Japan
for the volume of imported PKS. We have taken steps for stable
supply, including chartering a transport ship in 2019.
We
are also involved in a wood pellet manufacturing plantation
business in Indonesia, and it is scheduled to start supplying in
2022.

We have been certified to RSB (indicating sustainability in
the manufacture and the entire distribution chain of biomass
fuels) and GGL (indicating sustainability and traceability of
biomass fuels) since 2020.
We are also in the business of using our know-how to
help others become certified. Some services we provide are
assisting in creating the documents required for application
and internal auditing, providing training on the standard
required for each certification, and instructing how to
calculate the amount of greenhouse gases emitted.
