Stable Supply of Biomass Fuel
Achieve a society based on renewable energy
Accelerate a circular society
Hanwa is working in the business of biomass fuels, sources of
renewable energy.
Most of the biomass fuels we handle are woody—palm kernel
shells (PKS) and wood pellets—, and we are number one in Japan
for the volume of imported PKS. We have taken steps for stable
supply, including chartering a transport ship in 2019.
We
are also involved in a wood pellet manufacturing plantation
business in Indonesia, and it is scheduled to start supplying in
2022.

We are working on obtaining certifications for biomass energy,
including GGL certification in 2020, ISCC EU certification in
2022, ISCC PLUS certification in 2023, and SBP certification
starting in 2024.
Furthermore, we are also developing a business that
supports certification acquisition by utilizing our know-how,
and we prepare documents required for applications and
internal audits on behalf of our clients. We also provide
education on the standards required for each certification, as
well as guidance on how to calculate greenhouse gas emissions.
